Description
Description
Matchbox's early 1/72 range included the Westland Lysander as PK-7, one of its original 1972 aircraft kits. The kit contains the Lysander's distinctive high-wing fuselage, Bristol Perseus engine and cowling, cockpit, large fixed undercarriage, wing-mounted landing lights, clear parts, decals and instructions; the original decal sheet provides RAF Mk.II and Mk.III schemes. The Lysander was a British Army-cooperation and liaison aircraft designed for short-field operations and first flew in 1936. During WWII it became particularly famous for clandestine Special Operations Executive missions, landing agents and supplies on improvised French landing strips, as well as army cooperation and reconnaissance duties. The Matchbox kit remained popular for decades and is now a collectible vintage representation of the aircraft.
