Trumpeter 1/350 HMS Resolution Kit 05379

HMS Resolution was a British Revenge-class battleship. Her keel was laid down at the Palmers Shipbuilding and Iron Company shipyard in Jarrow in 1913, launched two years later, and commissioned on December 30, 1916. Upon commissioning, the ship was approximately 189 meters long, 27 meters wide, and had a draft of just over 10 meters. Her armament at that time consisted primarily of eight 381 mm guns, along with fourteen 152 mm guns, two 76 mm guns, and four 533 mm torpedo tubes.

HMS Resolution was part of the Revenge class of battleships, which were based on the Queen Elizabeth class of battleships, with the new ships being slightly smaller, consciously accepting a lower top speed in favour of better armour.

From 1916 to 1919, HMS Resolution served with the 1st Battle Squadron of the Grand Fleet. Between the wars, she operated primarily with the Atlantic Fleet, except for a brief refit in 1930–1931.

At the outbreak of World War II, HMS Resolution joined the Home Fleet and served as an escort in the Atlantic. While supporting the Norwegian Campaign in May 1940, Resolution was hit by a bomb at Tjeldsundet. In June of that year, she joined Force H at Gibraltar and participated in the destruction of the French fleet at Mers-el-Kebir in July. Shortly thereafter, she joined Force M at Freetown and participated in the bombardment of French ships in the Dakar area. It is worth noting that during this engagement, the battleship was torpedoed by the French submarine Beveziers and severely damaged.

After refitting in the United States, HMS Resolution sailed for Colombo in February 1942 and served in the Indian Ocean in 1942 and 1943. She returned to England in September 1943 and became a training ship in 1944. Finally, HMS Resolution was sold for scrap on 5 May 1948 and scrapped at Faslane.
