Irvine Model Engine Genuine Replacement Spare Part – O.S. Manufactured RC Aircraft Engine Component

Irvine model engine replacement spare part for use with compatible Irvine two-stroke glow engines manufactured by O.S. Engines. Suitable for servicing, repairing, maintaining and restoring model aircraft engines, including older and discontinued models.

Manufacturer Information and History

Irvine Engines was a respected British manufacturer and distributor of model aircraft engines, established in 1969 by Ron Irvine in the United Kingdom.

The company initially specialised in distributing imported model engines, including the American K&B and Veco ranges, before developing its own engines.

In 1977, Irvine introduced the Sport .40, a British-designed and manufactured two-stroke glow engine. This was followed by a range of engines that became popular with radio-controlled model aircraft enthusiasts throughout the United Kingdom and overseas.

Irvine engines gained a reputation for strong performance, reliability, robust construction and good engineering quality.

Following Ron Irvine's retirement in 1998, the Irvine business continued under new ownership. Around 2000, production of certain later Irvine engine models was undertaken by O.S. Engines, the internationally recognised Japanese model engine manufacturer.

O.S. Engines, formally known as O.S. Engines Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Ogawa Seiki), was founded in Japan in 1936 by Shigeo Ogawa and became one of the world's leading manufacturers of precision model engines.

The later O.S.-manufactured Irvine range included the popular .40, .46 and .53 two-stroke glow engines. These engines retained the distinctive Irvine branding and red or maroon crankcase finish while benefiting from O.S. manufacturing expertise.

The Japanese-manufactured versions can often be identified by their Made in Japan markings and O.S.-type carburettors.

Irvine engines remain popular with model aircraft enthusiasts, and genuine replacement components are useful for maintaining and restoring engines that are no longer in production.

Some standard-sized components, including glow plugs, bearings, fasteners, propeller nuts, washers and selected accessories, may also be suitable for model engines manufactured by other companies where dimensions and technical specifications match.

Although later Irvine engines were manufactured by O.S. Engines, their internal components are not necessarily interchangeable with O.S.-branded engines of similar capacity.

Components such as pistons, cylinder liners, crankshafts, connecting rods, cylinder heads and crankcases are generally specific to individual engine models and production versions.

Compatibility with O.S., Enya, ASP, SC, Thunder Tiger, Saito, Webra or other manufacturers is not guaranteed unless specifically stated.

Please check the manufacturer's part number, engine model, production version and original parts diagram before purchasing.

Important Information

Irvine engines were produced in several different versions over the years, including British-manufactured and later O.S.-manufactured models.

Components from earlier British engines may not fit later O.S.-manufactured engines, even where the engine capacity is identical.

Please study the listing photographs carefully to confirm the correct component, quantity and condition before purchasing.
