MVVS 35 IFS / 215 IFS 35cc Petrol R/C Aircraft Engine – Czech Republic
Vintage MVVS 35 IFS, also known as the MVVS 215 IFS, 35 cc petrol engine for large-scale radio-control aircraft. Czech-made single-cylinder, air-cooled two-stroke engine with the distinctive red-anodised cylinder head, Walbro diaphragm carburettor and separate electronic ICU-L ignition system.
The engine has a displacement of 35 cc (2.15 cu in), with a 35.5 mm bore and 35.2 mm stroke. MVVS rated the engine at a maximum of 4.1 PS at 8,500 rpm, with maximum torque of 3.8 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The manufacturer specified a normal operating range of approximately 1,400–9,000 rpm.
The MVVS 35 IFS was specifically designed for propeller-driven R/C aircraft and was particularly suited to large-scale sport, aerobatic and scale models. It was one of MVVS's dedicated petrol engines, using a separate electronic ignition module rather than the magneto system found on some older converted industrial engines.
The engine uses a Walbro diaphragm carburettor and is designed to run on unleaded petrol mixed with two-stroke oil. MVVS specified a 1:40 petrol/oil mixture. The complete engine, excluding the separate ignition unit, weighs approximately 1.49 kg, with the ignition module adding approximately 165 g.
The engine is supplied with its carburettor, ignition system, spark-plug lead and exhaust/muffler assembly as shown in the photographs. The large custom exhaust gives the engine a substantial scale installation appearance.
Condition: Used vintage engine showing age-related cosmetic wear, marks and some surface oxidation from previous use. The engine turns over freely. It has not been tested by me running, so starting, ignition performance and running characteristics cannot be guaranteed. The ignition wiring and electrical connections should be checked before use, and the carburettor/fuel system should be inspected and serviced as appropriate before attempting to run the engine.
A desirable Czech-made vintage large-scale R/C petrol engine, particularly interesting to collectors and enthusiasts of MVVS engines and early-generation giant-scale petrol powerplants.
