Description
Vintage Revell H-628 Sopwith Camel F.1 in 1/72 scale. The classic plastic kit contains the Camel fuselage, upper and lower wings, cockpit, Clerget rotary engine, cowling, propeller, undercarriage, struts and tail components, accompanied by assembly instructions and period decals. Revell's H-628 tooling dates to the 1960s and was repeatedly reissued in the company's H-series. The real Sopwith Camel F.1 entered combat in 1917 and became Britain's most famous First World War fighter. Armed with two synchronised Vickers machine guns and powered by a rotary engine, it was extremely manoeuvrable but demanding to fly because of its strong gyroscopic effects and concentrated engine mass. More than 5,000 Camels were built and the type achieved a remarkable number of victories in fighter, ground-attack and night operations. The box represents one of two H-628 kits in this photograph.
