RCV 90 SP Four Stroke Glow Engine - Second Hand

The RCV 90 SP engine is an unusual four-stroke glow plug engine. It features RCV’s unique rotary valve system, which has only one additional moving part compared to a conventional two-stroke engine and is easy to maintain. The engine’s design results in the cylinder—with the output drive shaft at its end—rotating at half the rpm of the crankshaft. The crankshaft rotates the engine’s cylinder by means of bevel gears and has a drive socket at one end to facilitate electric starting, allowing for vertical starting from the rear of the engine.

Thanks to the RCV 90 SP’s geared construction, it is capable of turning large-diameter propellers up to 18 inches (457 mm). The design’s only serious drawback is cooling, which often proves problematic in semi-enclosed cowlings, requiring complex ducting to prevent the RCV 90 SP from overheating.

It should be noted that RCV produced three different capacity engines of this design: the RCV 60 SP, RCV 90 SP, and RCV 120 SP
