The de Havilland DH.94 Moth Minor was a British light aircraft developed during the late 1930s as an affordable and modern training and touring aeroplane.

Designed by the renowned de Havilland Aircraft Company, it first flew in 1937 and was intended to succeed earlier Moth designs with improved performance, lower operating costs and a more contemporary all-wood construction.

Powered by a de Havilland Gipsy Minor four-cylinder inverted inline engine, the DH.94 offered reliable performance and economical operation.

Its low-wing monoplane layout provided excellent handling characteristics, while the enclosed side-by-side cockpit gave both instructor and student improved comfort and visibility compared with many earlier training aircraft.

These features made the Moth Minor particularly well suited to flying clubs and private owners looking for an easy-to-fly aircraft.

With the outbreak of the Second World War, many civilian Moth Minors were impressed into military service.

The Royal Air Force employed the type primarily for elementary pilot training and communications duties under the Civil Air Guard and later within the Empire Air Training Scheme.

Although never intended as a combat aircraft, the DH.94 played an important role in preparing new pilots for service on more advanced military types.

Production of the Moth Minor continued until wartime priorities shifted de Havilland's focus towards military aircraft manufacture.

Despite its relatively modest production numbers, the aircraft earned a reputation for dependable handling, straightforward maintenance and pleasant flying characteristics, making it popular with both instructors and student pilots.

Following the war, many surviving aircraft returned to civilian ownership, where they continued to serve with flying clubs and private pilots for many years.

Today, the de Havilland DH.94 Moth Minor remains a highly regarded classic light aircraft, admired for its elegant lines, historical significance and contribution to British aviation training during a pivotal period in history.
