Description
Description
Matchbox's British Lesney range included a large selection of affordable 1/72 aircraft, many of which have become collectible vintage kits. PK-21 is the Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a Schwalbe, originally released in 1976 after being announced in the 1974-75 catalogue. The kit contains moulded plastic fuselage, swept wings, twin Jumo 004 engine nacelles, cockpit with pilot/seat, undercarriage, weapons, clear canopy, decals and instructions; period issues provided two German markings. The full-size Me 262 was the world's first operational jet fighter, entering Luftwaffe service in 1944. It was considerably faster than Allied piston fighters and was armed with four 30 mm cannon, but its late introduction, limited numbers and fuel shortages prevented it from changing the course of the war.
