Description
Description
Matchbox, the British Lesney model-kit brand, became famous for its colourful, affordable injection-moulded aircraft kits, many of which are now sought-after vintage collectibles. PK-551 was originally tooled in 1983 and reissued in 1992. This 1/72 kit contains the Victor airframe, cockpit and clear parts, undercarriage, four jet engines, tanker refuelling equipment, stores/detail parts, decals and instructions, with three RAF marking options. The full-size Handley Page Victor was Britain's third V-bomber, entering RAF service in 1958 as a strategic nuclear bomber. The K.2 was converted into an aerial tanker and remained an important RAF refuelling aircraft until the Victor's retirement in 1993, seeing extensive service during the Falklands War and Operation Granby. The Matchbox tooling is now out of production and is an attractive vintage Cold War subject.
