Description
Matchbox's specialist 1/72 range included many aircraft that have never been widely represented in plastic, making PK-605 particularly interesting to collectors. The kit was originally tooled in 1980 and reissued in 1989, with parts to represent the Heyford Mk.I, Mk.II and Mk.III, plus three RAF marking options. Contents include the large biplane fuselage and wings, twin engines and propellers, cockpit and crew positions, extensive interplane struts, undercarriage, bombs, clear parts, decals and instructions. The Handley Page Heyford was a distinctive British twin-engined biplane heavy bomber of the early 1930s and was the last biplane heavy bomber to serve with the RAF. It entered service from 1933-34, became obsolete rapidly as monoplane bombers appeared, and was retired from frontline bombing by the late 1930s, surviving in training and other secondary duties. The Matchbox kit remains the principal 1/72 injection-moulded representation of this unusual aircraft.
