Description

The Ram Tank is a Canadian cruiser tank from the Second World War. The first prototypes of this car were made in 1941, and serial production was carried out in the years 1941-1943. In total, about 2,000 tanks of this type of all versions were built. The drive was provided by a single engine Continental R-975 with 400 hp. The wagon's hull was 5.8 meters long and 3 meters wide. The weight was 29 tons, and the operating range was approx. 140 kilometers. The main armament - in the Ram II version - was the 57mm QF 6-pdr cannon, and the additional armament was three 7.62mm machineguns.

The Ram tank was developed for the Canadian armed forces, and design work began shortly after the outbreak of World War II in Europe. The major part of the development of the new car was carried out at the Montreal Locomotive Works, and its design was largely based on the American M3 Lee tank. In the course of production, several development versions of this vehicle were created, including: Ram I (version armed with a 40mm gun), Ram II (version with a 57mm gun), but also the Wallaby vehicle (an ammunition vehicle for SPGs). ) or the Ram OC / Command vehicle (observation and command vehicle). It is worth adding that Ram tanks have never been used in combat, and were used primarily for training tank crews.
