The aircraft

The Fokker E.IV was a German First World War fighter and one of the later developments of the Fokker Eindecker family. It was designed around a more powerful 14-cylinder Oberursel U.III rotary engine, producing approximately 160 hp.

The E.IV entered service in 1916 and was flown by well-known German pilots including Oswald Boelcke and Max Immelmann. The aircraft was intended to provide substantially greater power and firepower than earlier Eindeckers.

Armament

The intended armament was particularly ambitious for its time: three Spandau machine guns.

However, synchronisation problems meant that production aircraft were generally fitted with two guns rather than the full three-gun arrangement.

Kit details

ICM's 1:72 kit contains 46 parts and provides markings including aircraft associated with Max Immelmann and Oswald Boelcke. The completed model is approximately 104 mm long with a 135 mm wingspan.
