Chetverikov SPL / Hydroplane SPL — Amodel 1/72 Plastic Model Kit Vintage

Amodel specialises in rare experimental aviation subjects, and kit 7271 depicts the Soviet Chetverikov SPL, also known as Hydro-1. The kit contains 44 plastic parts, a transparent canopy, decals and painting/assembly instructions. The SPL was designed by I.V. Chetverikov's team in 1934 as a compact experimental racing/seaplane project intended to investigate high-speed aerodynamic arrangements; it was also associated with the Soviet Navy's interest in aircraft capable of operating in conjunction with submarines. The unusual layout and tiny production run make this one of the more specialised kits in the group.
