Description
Description
Brengun is a Czech manufacturer particularly noted for producing unusual aircraft variants that are poorly represented by mainstream manufacturers. This 1/72 BRP72009 kit contains injection-moulded plastic parts, clear parts, a photo-etched fret, resin components and a waterslide decal sheet, allowing construction of the unusual Spitfire Mk.Vb floatplane conversion. The real aircraft was developed during the Second World War as a possible fighter for operations from remote islands and waterways. After an earlier Norwegian floatplane concept, Supermarine developed a Mk.Vb conversion using specially designed floats; prototype W3760 first flew as a floatplane in October 1942, followed by two further conversions. The aircraft were subsequently sent to Egypt and captured by German forces, and the concept never reached operational service. The combination of the iconic Spitfire and unusual float arrangement makes this a particularly interesting collector's kit.
