Description
The Ares Indoor Model was developed in collaboration with Krill Aircraft,
a company specializing in the production of this aircraft in a composite
(fiberglass) version. Following mutual agreement and in cooperation with
Jack Jehle, we began developing and producing an indoor EPP version of this
unique aircraft. The result is a model that faithfully translates the
character of the original Ares to indoor flying.
Ares Indoor Model is made of 4 mm thick EPP, ensuring extremely low weight
while maintaining high durability. This allows the model to withstand the
rough handling typical of indoor flying very well. The use of EPP offers a
significant advantage over conventional Depron, not only in terms of
durability but also repairability – minor damage can be repaired easily and
quickly, often directly at the flying field, without the need to replace
any parts.
The development focused on flight characteristics, particularly
versatility and control precision. The model is designed to respond
smoothly and symmetrically to all axes, is highly predictable, stable, and
precise, while retaining the feel of the larger composite aircraft. We are
very pleased that we were able to bring the model to the level you see in
the flight videos during development.
The model is extremely agile yet calm and stable in flight. The structure
easily withstands even less-than-gentle landings. The centrally positioned
motor significantly reduces the risk of propeller damage from minor impacts.
Two aileron servos allow not only precise control but also adjustment of
the landing flaps. This facilitates slow, stable flight and knife-edge
maneuvers. This configuration is not only visually appealing but also very
pleasant to fly.
The entire model was designed with maximum focus on minimizing weight. The
structure is reinforced with carbon elements – carbon rods with diameters
of 0.8 and 1 mm, supplemented by carbon strips measuring 3 × 0.2 mm and 3
× 0.5 mm. This ensures an optimal strength-to-weight ratio.
Ares Indoor is the result of careful development and collaboration with
the aim of creating a precise, robust and exceptionally good flying indoor
fighter that is suitable for both recreational and advanced pilots.
