History:

The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was one of the most advanced bombers of World War II, featuring pressurised crew compartments, remote-controlled defensive turrets, and long-range capability. The B-29A was a refined version with structural improvements and enhanced systems. “Old Battler” was among the aircraft that flew with the USAAF in the Pacific theatre, conducting devastating bombing raids against Japan. The B-29 played a pivotal role in the strategic air campaign, including the atomic bomb missions over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, though “Old Battler” itself was part of the conventional bombing operations. Revered for its engineering innovation and combat effectiveness, the B-29 remains one of the most significant aircraft of the war. Academy’s 1/72 kit offers an impressive and detailed model of this historic bomber.
