Revell 1/72 Torpedoboat PT117 Revell-05048

Revell's classic kit of the PT 117 torpedo boat features a one-piece hull with detailed deck and superstructure. Also includes four crew figures, a display stand, and decals. 

The PT 117 was one of the smallest, fastest and most maneuverable combat ships in the US Navy, the "patrol torpedo boats" - also called Mosquitos - because they "stabbed" their opponents at high speed. Four high-performance compressor engines (12 cyl. Packard) with 2500 hp each gave the boat a top speed of 50 knots. In addition, these boats had special hulls that glided over the water, displacement 50 t. Equipped with 4 torpedoes, 4 machine guns and an anti-aircraft cannon, they posed a serious danger to the enemy, especially in limited island waters in the Pacific. A disadvantage was the high fuel consumption and the specified use in calm waters.
