Description
Description
This tram was built in April 1903 by the Electric Railway and Tramway Carriage Works and was one of 100 class “B” vehicles ordered by the London County Council.
Numbered 106, it was used as a passenger vehicle until 1925, when it was converted into a snowplough with the number 022. In 1983, 106 was taken to the National Tramway Museum at Crich in Derbyshire, where it remains today, having covered over 10,000 miles in passenger service.
Originally, it was powered by two 25 hp Dick Kerr DK25A engines, which were replaced in 1927 by 42 hp Westinghouse 220 engines. It had handbrakes on the wheels and rheostatic brakes on the motors. Magnetic brakes were installed in 1908.
