The glider was developed by Edmund Schneider, but many plants in Germany and, under license, abroad, including Schneider, Nord Aviation and Elliots of Newbury, were responsible for its production.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman';\"\u003e The prototype flight took place in 1931, and serial production started in the same year. The new glider received significantly changed wings, a reinforced structure and a changed cockpit. It was also very simple in design and was resistant to landings in difficult terrain.
