It takes the design of the Piper Super Cub and reinvents it using 21st-century materials and computer-aided design to result in an airframe that has fewer parts and weighs less – so it can take off and land in shorter distances and smaller spaces while being able to take the abuse of backcountry exploration. The original Hangar 9® Carbon Cub 15cc was a highly reviewed and popular model due to its modern Cub looks, unexpected aerobatic capability, plus smooth and stable scale flight performance. This updated and upgraded version delivers in all the same ways while also being easier and less time-consuming to assemble, store, and transport. It features the advantages of lightweight, stiff, and strong wood construction that's covered with genuine UltraCote film. Plus, it's available in an ARF version that allows you to install the glow, gas, or electric power system and electronics you prefer, or in a time- and money-saving EP PNP version that's equipped with six factory-installed Spektrum servos, a 6S compatible Avian motor, and a Smart ESC.

Hangar 9 Carbon Cub 15cc Overview

The Hangar 9® Carbon Cub 15cc brings the versatility and heritage of the full-scale CubCrafters aircraft to life with an all-wood model that combines modern looks, convenience, and performance. Featuring a 90-inch (2.3m) wingspan, this large model delivers a giant-scale experience yet is still practical enough to fly every day. The two-piece wing now features quick-connect struts that can fold against the wing – plus the wing tube can be stored in the fuselage – for more convenient transport and storage. There's also a hatch between the wings for easier access and the receiver, as well as a windshield hatch for much better access to the power system components. The landing lights are now factory-installed, while the scale-like shock-absorbing landing gear has been updated with nicer looking wheels. Or you can install the optional 1/5th scale wood float set (sold separately) to enjoy adventure-driven performance when flying from water. The light wing loading and functional flaps help you perform impressively short takeoffs and landings – and flaps up, the Carbon Cub is a scale and sport flying dream machine that's also capable of excellent aerobatic performance.

The ARF version arrives mostly factory assembled with bolt-on tail surfaces that save you considerable time and effort. It also allows you to install a 15cc gas engine, similar-class glow engines, or an equivalent electric power system and the electronics you prefer. The EP PNP version saves you even more time because it doesn't require any glue for assembly and is equipped with six factory-installed digital and metal-geared Spektrum A6380 servos, a 6S compatible Avian 5065-450Kv outrunner motor, and a 100-amp Smart ESC that can provide a variety of power system-related telemetry data with Smart and non-Smart batteries via compatible receivers and Spektrum AirWare-equipped transmitters.

Hangar 9 Carbon Cub 15cc Features

Giant scale 90.0" (2.3m) wingspan with strong and stiff – yet lightweight and long-lasting – built-up wood construction finished with genuine UltraCote film covering

Spektrum Avian 5065-450Kv brushless motor compatible with popular and common 6S 4000–7000mAh batteries

100-amp Spektrum Avian Smart ESC provides real-time battery voltage, current and other data via compatible receivers and transmitters

Six durable, factory-installed metal-geared and digital Spektrum A6380 servo

Fast and easy bolt-together assembly – no glue or special tools require

Functional flaps for shorter takeoffs and landings plus improved slow-flight performance

Large and convenient top-mounted windshield hatch plus an additional hatch between the wings

Wing tube can be stored in the fuselage for more convenient transport and storage

Two-piece wing now features quick-connect struts that can fold against the wing

Shock-absorbing landing gear with better-looking wheels

Designed to accept the optional 1/5th-scale wood float set (sold separately)

Factory-installed LED landing lights

Skill Level 3 – Intermediate Pilots (Experience Required)

Skill Level 3 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble, set up and fly similar class models.
